For builders, not filmmakers.
One person answers this, usually within a couple of days. Bugs, questions, shot ideas, jobs you think the library is missing — all welcome.
If you're reporting a problem, these three things make it far quicker to fix:
No. Every shot that asks you to speak can be covered another way — there's a narrate button under each shot, so you can record the words separately and keep your face out of it. Skip them entirely and the video still gets built.
Nowhere. Everything stays on your iPhone. Garage Reel has no account, no server and no upload. When a video is finished you save it to Photos or send it on yourself.
Never. Every take is kept at full quality in the project archive, so the long-form video you make in six months still has the original footage to work from.
Timed shots stop themselves at the target length, which is what keeps the clips short. If you'd rather control it yourself, turn off Stop recording automatically in Settings. Individual shots can also be set to "film and crop" in the job editor, which records until you stop and lets you trim afterwards.
Fixed in version 1.0. If you're seeing it, tap Build it again on the video screen and it will re-cut from the takes you have now.
Yes. Open the job library from the projects screen, pick anything close to what you're doing, and tap Make my own version. You can add, remove, retime and reorder shots — press and hold a shot to drag it. Saved jobs show up alongside the built-in ones.
Delete the app. Everything it stored goes with it, because none of it was anywhere else. Videos you already saved to Photos stay in Photos.
Garage Reel collects nothing. The full policy is here: Privacy Policy.
